Chemistry

Chemistry is a feature in Baseball Party Zone that is based on the feature in Mario Superstar Baseball. Player chemistry emphasizes the relationships between characters. When forming a team, the relationship status between the captain and their teammates affects the number of power stars the team starts with. Additionally, in the game, good chemistry occurs with two friends. When a player throws a ball to their "buddy", the ball travels faster than a normal throw would. Additionally, a player hits better when one of their friends are on base. Examples are Maxie and Sadie, Maddie and Scout. Good chemistry is symbolized by a musical note.

Bad chemistry occurs conversely. When a character throws a ball to a character he or she dislikes, the ball travels more slowly and is sometimes out of line. Bad chemistry is symbolized when a small zigzag line appears next to the players. Examples of bad chemistry include Maxie and Shawn, Sharky and Bad Fairy. However, bad chemistry only occurs when the characters are fielding.

Special Skill

Star Skill is another feature based on Mario Superstar Baseball. They can occur during pitching and batting. Any character can use these, but with team captains, a logo and special animation appear. Also, minor characters' special skills are not named, while the team captains' are. When two captains are on the same team in in story mode, their special skills are usually alike. The amount of Star Skills that can be used is represented by 5 Team Stars in a meter. The amount of starting Team Special Skills depend on the chance of the chosen team winning the game.

When a Special Chance occours, if the team that is batting gets a hit, they get a skill. If the pitcher gets an out, than his or her team gets a skill added to the meter.

Exibition Mode

Exhibition mode is a standard one or two player game of baseball. Players fill out a roster and play a game. There are six different, unique stadiums in which players can choose to play in. The player, before playing in a stadium, can adjust options such as number of innings, mercy, which player bats first, and turning Special Skills on and off. Players can also adjust field settings, running, drop spots, and batting cursors.

Stadiums

Stadium Corresponding Minigame Description
Maxie Mall Mall Cart Durby A department store owned by Maxie. There is a mary-go-round in the outfield that can throw the baseball around. Also, giant shoes fall down from the terrace, hitting outfielders.
Ocean Dome Whack-a-Whale An underwater dome owned by Sharky. If you hit the baseball too high, it hits the glass and comes back down. Also, schools of anthro-fish run around the outfield, knocking down any character in its path.
Stratus Stadium Cloud Catch A cloud-covered area owned by Cliff. There are clouds in the air everywhere. When a ball hits the clouds, they fly off in a random direction. White clouds can go away, but the light blue clouds are permanent.
Boom Boom Boulevard Big, Bad, Bomb Durby An old, run-down mine field owned by Shawn. Giant bombs randomly fall from the sky, along with mimes and grenades, which can stun outfielders.
Honeycomb House Queen Bee Durby A giant bee-hive owned by Fifi. Honey splurts out from the floors of the outfield, stunning players. The wall in the back of the field is covered in honeycombs, which come and go, making homeruns unpredictable.
Freckles Castle Wall Ball The backyard of a castle in Spagonia owned by Freckles' family. There are giant doors in the back of the field that close to potential homeruns. There are spikes in the outfield that can stun and slow down players that touch them.
Kou Tower Ring Dash A field on top of an apartment roof owned by Kou and Kye. There are two enormous scythes in the back of the outfield that rock back and forth, like window washers. There are also tornadoes that can take the balls and throw them randomly. They do not affect outfielders.
Ump Stadium Water Balloon Catch A stadium belonging to Ump in a sun-drenched beachside area. There are no features in this stadium, so this stadium is well suited for pure baseball.

Underlined stadiums and minigames are unlockable.

Story Mode

Story Mode is a game mode where one player selects one of six Team Captains (Maxie, Sharky, Cliff, Shawn, Fifi, and Laky) and plays with a pre-made team. The player wanders a map of Mobius and can play mini games to earn rings and spend at a Shop, where power-ups can be bought. The player's objective is to beat the other five captains in a game of baseball, on their own course. Players from other teams can be recruited after clearing certain missions. When the player recruits the captain, they are not able to recruit other characters on their team unless the player faces King Crab. After beating all five opponents, the path to Freckles' Castle opens, where the player is able to challenge Freckles' team. Once Freckles' team is defeated, Story Mode is cleared. After Normal mode is cleared, Kou, Laky, and their teams are unlocked and able to use in Story Mode, although Shawn's team disappears when Kou's team is used, and Cliff's team disappears when Laky's is used. Also, after they are unlocked, a random team may be gone and replaced by Kou's team.

Coming in contact with King Crab starts a short, one inning game where the player is put in various situations. If the player has had a captain join their team, he or she can unlock characters on their team from King Crab. Sometimes, they are ahead by a point and must defend their position. Other times, they are behind and must make a comeback. King Crab is the only character not a team captain to have a team. After Expert Mode is completed, Curtsey the Zebra is unlocked as an umpire. You can change back and forth from Curtsey to Ump in options.

Minigames

Minigames are extra games outside of playing regular baseball. They usually feature baseball rules, but with a tweak added to it. Unlike exhibition, up to fours players can participate and players choose single characters instead of constructing a team. All minigames correspond to a stadium, such as Mall Cart Durby to Maxie Mall.

Each minigame also has one character to be unlocked that corresponds to the default stadium. Maddie the Chao is unlocked by beating Mall Cart Durby on Pro mode. Sunny Dayz is unlocked by beating Whack-a-Whale in Pro mode. Bobby the Bear is unlocked by beating Cloud Catch in Normal Mode. Keygen the Tiger is unlocked by beating Big, Bad, Bomb Durby on Expert mode. Allen the Wombat is unlocked by beating Queen Bee Durby on Pro mode. Dave the Rabbit is unlocked by beating unnamed- on Expert mode. Big Buela is unlocked by beating Wall Ball on Expert mode.

Four difficulties are involved, though only one is available in the start for all minigames from easiest to hardest: Novice, Normal, Pro, and Expert. Normal and Pro difficulties are simply harder than Novice, but Expert usually has a tweak to it; players who play Expert difficulty sets records if they beat the standard high score of the minigame.

Online Gameplay

There are fa few different ways to play online. One option is exhibition game mode, which can be player from 2 to 18 people at a time. However, this mode cannot be played with an odd number of people.

Another mode used in online play is party mode, which is the most popular. There can be from 2 to 8 players at a time, and players move around on a course, getting and losing coins and items. There are also different gimics on the course, and players vote on which course they will use. This is very similar to the Mario Party concept.

The last mode in online gameplay is minigame mode. This mode is played from 1 to 8 people and consists of playing the minigames continually. When a player wants to leave, they can quit after a minigame is over.
