History
Edit
Eggman build Gemerl from Emerl's Data. He appears in Sonic Advance 3. He may have some of Emerl's memories. Gemerl has the ability to merge with other machines. He has a black, yellow, and grey body and red and blue eyes. Unlike Emerl however, he also has several sharp fin-like objects attached to his arms, legs and head, which he presumably uses to cause damage as he performs dashing attacks.
Gemerl was an enemy to Sonic and the gang at first. He had the ability to "merge" with other machines, and as such co-piloted all of Eggman's boss vehicles. Also, Sonic and co. fight against him in Sunset Hill, Toy Kingdom, Cyber Track; Route 99 and Altar Emerald.
Gemerl bears a great deal of rememblance to (and derives his name from) Emerl, the prototype Nocturnus Gizoid whose development forms the core of Sonic Battle's story. It is stated that Dr. Eggman created Gemerl from Emerl's "data" for Sonic Advance 3, which would seem to imply that Gemerl is merely an advanced E-121 Phi robot. However, events later in the game would suggest that Gemerl incorporates some of Emerl's hardware and memories, indicating that he is in fact be a partial rebuild of the Gizoid.
Unlike Emerl, Gemerl often uses his jetpack, either to fly momentarily, move around the arena at speed, or to perform powerful midair spin attacks. He can also teleport, fire barrages of missiles, and create a red energy shield around himself.
When the Chaos Emeralds were collected, they caused Gemerl to become unstable and destructive, in much the same way as Emerl's destabilisation in "Sonic Battle" as Emerl. Gemerl betrays Eggman by throwing him at Sonic, then escapes and transforms into an orb shaped machine. Sonic turns into Super Sonic and teams up with Eggman to fight Gemerl space. This orb form of Gemerl had four extendable arms with claw-like hands that could fire energy beams and missiles. His only weak point is his gem, which is protected and impossible to harm unless Super Sonic charges Eggman's Egg Mobile with energy and throws him at Gemerl.
After he is defeated, Cream the Rabbit and her mother, Vanilla, find his broken body on the beach, and take him to Tails. Tails then proceeds to repair Gemerl, who seemingly remembers Cream, becoming her friend.

Sonic Battle: Amped Up!
Edit
Gemerl appears in Sonic Battle: Amped Up! as an alternate form of Emerl. Gemerl's form takes the stats of copied Moves and boosts them significantly. However, this is counter-acted by the fact that Gemerl is restricted to pre-programmed Attacks, incapable of using copied techniques. The programming for these attacks is restricted from Emerl's databanks; this combined with the inability to actually fight Gemerl means that Emerl cannot copy the attacks of his alternate form.
