Knuckles Adventure is Knuckles' first solo game on a non Sega console. In this game you'll get to climb, glide, dig, and fight as Knuckles in order to solve a long gone mystery about the echidnas. While at the same time protecting the Master Emerald, and stopping this new evil force that's working behind the scenes while Eggman is at it again trying to take over the world. Along with all that, players will also get small instances where they get to play as Rouge or Espio. Both have similar abilities to Knuckles, but with stealth added twists that Knuckles wouldn't be able to do.
If you've played as Knuckles in the Adventure games, the gameplay is going to feel very familiar to you in this game. But now Knuckels has alot more moves he can use to make his gameplay that much more interesting.
The gameplay will not be straight hunting for the Master Emerald pieces though. But moreso, this is unlike any Sonic game. This is an open world type of game. As Knuckles, you will get to explore these huge adventure fields to get through the story. The gameplay is not really that speed based, and moreso like other open world games. For example Assassin's Creed, the Legend of Zelda, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. But, there obviously will be those Sonic twists to the gameplay to make it a unique game.
So when you're not just exploring the city or the forest, you will be in other areas, trying to solve through the puzzles to get to the end of the level. Much like a dungeon in the Legend of Zelda games, but different. Knuckles has alot of moves he can use, it's your job to figure out how to use them to get to the end of the level.
There will also be alot of combat in this game, because if there's something Knuckles is known for, it is his combat. Controls will change slightly when you are fighting off enemies, in an effort to make combat that much more then just smashing the X button. You can string along combos when fighting enemies and bosses, if you press the right buttons or time your attacks correctly.
There will also be an upgrade system in place to get more moves both for platforming and for fighting. Using good old rings as the currency.
When you complete a long level as Knuckles, you may go into a short segment with either Rouge or Espio. You get to see how they both contribute to the story, and how they play both similar and differently from Knuckles.
KnucklesBeing the main character of this game, Knuckles definitely has the most abilities in this game, and is able to do many things that Rouge and Espio cannot do. He is the most powerful fighter, and has very little stealth in his gameplay and moreso exploration.
