Shard is a character in the Nazo's Adventures series by MewtwoLucario. He is a robot hedgehog who was the first Metal Sonic ever created.
Appearance[]
Shard is an anthropomorphic robot hedgehog who sports a black and yellow color scheme. At the center of his chest is a red Power Stone, the source of Shard's power. Shard's eyes can move and are normally red, but often change according to his mood: yellow for afraid, purple for confused, dark red for angry, blue for sad, green for disgusted, pink for guilty, etc. Unlike a lot of robots, Shard actually blinks and has a mouth. Instead of a hand, Shard's left arm ends in a laser cannon that not only fires lasers, but several things like confetti, paint, and even cupcakes.
As Neo Shard, he looks like Neo Metal Sonic, only he keeps his color scheme, the Power Gem on his chest, his mouth, his blinking, changing-color-depending-on-mood eyes, and his cannon arm.
Powers and Abilities[]
Shard's main abilities lie in his cannon arm, which, as stated above, can fire many things, from lasers to cupcakes. However, he can also fire lasers from his eyes, which is handy when also firing lasers from his cannon. Shard can fly too, and flies faster in his Neo form. He's also very fast; in fact, he ranks right behind Scourge as "fastest thing on the team." Shard can switch his eyes from "view mode" to "scan mode," so he'll be able to gather data from foes and use an x-ray vision. Shard can convert himself to a few things, like a boat.
Personality[]
Shard is a robot you can trust. He keeps his promises to anyone good, and doesn't keep them to bad guys. Shard's....um.....heart motor is always in the right place, so he comes through, even when things look bleak. However, when Shard's eyes turn dark red, anyone he's mad at instantly runs at high speed. Despite being a robot who was originally made for being smart, Shard is only slightly above average intelligence, often doing not-smart things like erasing enemy data. But he is a pack of dynamite; the muscle of the team.
History[]
Early life[]
Shard was originally created under the name "Metal Sonic" by Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, so the doc could have his "own Sonic the Hedgehog." Metal was used so he could kidnap Sonic's biggest fan, Amy Rose. However, he was defeated when trying to push his speed too far. Metal returned to fight Knuckles and the Chaotix in a form called "Titan Metal Sonic." He was, however, defeated again. When Sonic faced his robot counterpart again at the volcano Mount Mobius, he developed a conscience and let them escape the erupting volcano, presumably dying in the progress. Geoffrey St. John rebuilt him as a new robot who went under the name "Shard" to work in the Secret Freedom Fighters. Shard then went on several missions with the SFF, until Mephiles' attack on the planet. He captured the other Secret Freedom Fighters, with only Shard remaining free. Shard spent most of the time running for his artificial life, until he met an atomic hedgehog named "Nazo" and a later robot made by Eggman. The other robot had "Mecha Sonic Model No. 29" written on the side of his large spine, but said his name was "Rocket Metal Sonic"........

What I'm Made of... is Shard's theme song. It was originally used as the theme for the final boss fight from Sonic Heroes. It was performed by Crush 40.
