"...You've got a family now. You've had one all this time; for as long as we've been here. Your friends are your family."
"We stick together, no matter what. We share the pains, the burdens, and everything else together. No matter what happens, we'll be there for each other. That's...what makes us family."
Smash is a 23 year old blue echidna and a veteran fighter at the renowned arena: The Blitz Pit. He currently lives in a city due south from Station Square, a place called Green Flower City. Before he moved to the city, he used to live in Green Flower Zone with his little sister, Pearl The Echidna. Smash married Luna The Hedgehog on Friday, January 2nd, 2009, and they now have 4 children. Two boys, and twin daughters. He owns a black and blue motorcycle, which he got for his 18th birthday.
Smash's family is actually surprisingly large for an echidna--a species that had nearly died out due to Perfect Chaos. Smash's only sibling is Pearl, who is pink with purple hair, and is about two years younger than him. Their parents passed away, so they lived alone for a long time. Smash also has two cousins: Crash and Diamond the Echidnas, names that are obvious puns of Smash and Pearl. Although their cousins are younger than the two, and personality wise, are much different from each other. Its unknown who Crash's mother is, but his father has been seen and is known as "Spikes". He is the only echidna in the family that has spikes on his knuckles, which is where he got his name. Smash also has a grandmother named Rose, who came to see him for his 18th birthday. His grandmother lives a rich life in Emerald Town due to Smash's father, David The Echidna, winning a world tournament at the Blitz Pit and giving the prize money to her. There is one thing that everyone in the family has in common. They all share a common love for Pizza.
A sprite of Smash.Smash wearing his trademark Yin-Yang T-shirt.Smash generally has short hair reaching his shoulders at most, blue eyes, and sky blue wristbands. His outfits may vary, and sometimes he doesn't even have one. But he always wears big brown boots and white socks. His trademark outfit is his green T shirt with a yin-yang symbol on it and faded sky blue jeans. The outfit first appeared in one of his earliest stories, written by "Gameplay" a member of the 4kids.tv forums. Smash also has a black tuxedo, which he always complains about being too tight.
Personality
Smash is smart, serious, straightforward and down to earth. He has a great sense of independence and takes a lot of pride in himself, although not too much to make him arrogant. He can be very sarcastic, and tends to rant about things. Many people find it hilarious the way he thinks and what he says, but he isn't laughing at all. He's dead serious. Smash generally tries to stick to logic, making him a "no nonsense" guy. Ironically, many of his friends are rather cooky in their own unique ways. His all-time favorite food is Pizza, and he tends to be a "Pizza Critic" sometimes. He still thinks that Pearl's Pizza is the best, and that she should open up her own business. His wife comes close second though.
Smash is very smart, rational, and commonsensical. He will try to take every piece of information and squeeze out all the clues and answers out of them. He makes practice of this, which has proven to have paid off. Although he passes them off as theoretical deductions, He has been able to use very subtle hints to come up with high possibilities. Although he does have his moments where his mind draws a blank every now and then. Usually when he's either stressed out or overwhelmed.
He really detests people who think that they're better than him and boast about it without so much as an attempt to prove themselves. He'd rather that they prove themselves in front of everyone, just who is the better at what. He will challenge them in anyway, depending on what the person brags about besting him in is. Although if its really something he's not interested in, he will just shrug it off, or give them a questioning stare and eyebrow raise. (i.e, someone boasts in a big crowd about being better than Smash in golf, while Smash has never even picked up a golf club in his life.) Smash is also really put off by the type of arrogance usually found in rich, upperclass snobs. With the way he feels that everyone should be treated equally, rich or not, seeing someone put others down simply because they have money disgruntles him to no end.
Smash has a very distinct "Urrghii" (pronounced Urr-ree) sound that he makes sometimes. The sound originated as a startled cry, usually followed by a quick punch to the person/object that frightened him. Since the first time he did that, it was known as the "Reaction Punch". Later on, Smash began using the sound as his trademark battle cry; from attacking to even super transformations.
Smash has had some very severe cases of feeling like the only sane man, which may also be the reason why he is a deadpan snarker. Of course, his other sane friends felt exactly the same.
Smash is a very skilled fighter. Every morning, he gets up as the sun comes up over the horizon to begin his daily training. Nowadays, he does it outside so that he doesn't disturb his children's sleep. When battling, Smash takes extreme precaution behind every move, making sure that he won't either leave himself open and he hits an unguarded spot. Ironically, He always lets his opponents take the first move to test his or her strength. The way he fights though, it's important for him to let an enemy attack first. He is completely focused on the battle. He focuses on his surroundings, his enemy, he calculates an enemy's strengths and weaknesses against his own and devises a strategy based on it. He is great at countering physical attacks, but some weapons are difficult for him to counter against; most notably bladed weapons. This is one of the main reasons Gizmo created the Guard Gauntlets for him. He is also a rather high jumper, which he often uses to help him counter.
Smash almost never uses any weapon in battle, with the exception of gloved/gauntlet weapons, unless it's necessary to use something else. He specializes in battling with his bare hands. He strongly dislikes guns, and fighting people with them as well, as he feels that it's a cowardly weapon.
Aside from firearms, he doesn't show much interest in other weapons, though has considered practicing with some. The most he ever got into that consideration, however, was simply swinging a stick around for a while.
As Smash is skilled in martial arts, he also exceeds in great physical strength. If he puts all his might behind an attack, it could be fatal. Thus creating his trump card skill "Skull Cracker", where he aims his punch at the enemy's head with all his strength. The blow is powerful enough to literally crack their skull open. Another variation of this attack is using his own head to bash against his opponent's skull. All of Smash's techniques are self taught. He had no trainer, he trained himself. That gave him the advantage to do things his own way. And being a fighter at the Blitz Pit gave him the opportunities to test his skills and find out what he did wrong and work on improving it. He enjoys a challenge, and often tries to fight people stronger than him. Defeating them is a way of "Leveling Up" to him.
Smash has a list of skills and abilities that he can use.
Smash is one of the few people to discover how to utilize his own life energy, in many different ways. The most common use, however, is his powered up "High Tension" state. In this state, his strength and agility increase a substantial amount, and he is able to high jump and float downward slowly. His fur turns into a lime greenish cyan color and he has a sky blue aura around him. Running purely on his own energy, Smash has to be careful about using this for prolonged amounts of time. When he first utilized this power, the form only lasted a minute tops. Using a single skill drained or even completely diminished the form in an instant, leaving him fatigued. High Tension has a sort of "emergency shut-off system", in which he immediately powers down when running too low on energy, or after taking heavy damage. However, it won't stop him if he attempts to power up if he had taken serious wounds in his normal state.
In present times, Smash has finally mastered this form after an entire year of training with it. It lasts a lot longer, and he feels more normal in the form. In this form.
After mastering the High Tension, he was able to take it to the next level in power. This next level is even more powerful, though it is still not as powerful as his form with the Chaos Emeralds. In this form, he is entirely lime green, with cyan stripes on his arms and legs--foreshadowing his third and final stage of High Tension. After much training in this form, he can last for a while longer than his previous form, which he can now use almost as long as he wants. With this newly acquired form, he has grown stronger. And after some training by Arc Aungel, he's learned different ways of utilizing his energy. He can now use it to shield himself as well as repel projectiles and even people away from him (though his aura usually diverted most projectiles away from him when he was burning up a lot of energy, even before he had gotten his upgraded High Tension) and can use it to give him bursts of speed or an extra jump by releasing a small explosion of energy behind him or under him. He can also use it to refresh or even heal himself. He's been experimenting with this skill in particular, as he was rather curious to the extents of it.
With the power of the Seven Chaos Emeralds, (or any source of equal power) Smash is able to transform into Super Super Smash and Power Pearl
Smash. His power increases greatly, and he has the ability to glide at high speeds and float just above the ground. His fur turns gold in this form. Through experimenting with this form, he was able to achieve High Tension for the first time. Doing so also lead to him learning new skills that applied to this form as well as High Tension.
Smash's High Tension state is really a small piece of what hidden potential he has. When pushed to his limits and with a strong surge of emotion and a great feeling of need, That potential unlocks, and he transforms. Light Smash is more powerful than Super Smash, in terms of strength, speed, and durability. In this form, he can fly and even has the power to heal another, but not himself. His fur is a very light yellow color with lime green stripes on his arms and legs, and he has a brilliant white aura around him. Light Smash A drawing of Light Smash in his older design. (Credit to Super Lightning)
was thought to be as strong as Smash could possibly get, especially since he was able to share this power with Pearl and she had the same transformation. He shared his strength with other people in the past, but no one else was able to transform. For the same reasons as his High Tension state, when the power runs out, he suffers from extreme exhaustion. But since he uses up just about all of his energy to transform, unlike High Tension, he completely passes out as soon as he returns to normal. Ultra Smash, the strongest of his super forms.
Smash has one more form that few people have ever seen. With the power of the Seven Super Emeralds, the powered up versions of the Chaos Emeralds, (or any power source sufficient enough) Smash is able to advance to his most powerful form: Ultra Smash. Like Light Smash, he has green stripes on his arms and legs, but like Super Smash, the rest of his fur is golden. Unlike either, he has a green aura around him. Even more unlike the others, his hair grows spikier and flows outward, and two long spikes grow out his knuckles on each hand. His power increases dramatically, compared to Super Smash. He loses his healing powers and isn't as fast as Light Smash, but he makes up for it with raw power and great durability. This form only canonically appeared during the climax of Numbered Days.
You can read a full description on his super forms here.
There is a very short '(and very old) 'video clip of how he transforms into Ultra Smash. He first uses his own strength to go into his mini-super form, then he uses the power of the emeralds to go super, and then he slowly grows longer hair and spikes before completing the transformation with an incredible blast of energy. And this is just the shorter version. The transformation is actually longer than that, but due to the RPGMaker battle animation limitations, this was as long as it could be made. Though a longer version is in the process.
General Info
Smash currently lives in Green Flower City, due south from Station Square. Every morning, he starts the day by waking up at sunrise and begins his morning workout. He trains himself both physically and mentally. By physically, he hones his fighting skills and does various exercises, (Usually while playing the song "What I'm Made Of", his theme song, to keep himself motivated.) But mentally, he had been studying the super transformation with the seven Chaos Emeralds. For months he had been trying to find the answer to one curious question: Is it possible to transform without the use of Chaos Energy? He used the emeralds to transform, and he then tried to transform in the same way but without the use of the emeralds and only using his own strength. He knew that it was possible somehow, because a recent incident lead him to transform into "Light Smash" without the chaos emeralds. One day, he finally brought it out and transformed. But the form barely lasted a minute. Since then he trained to extend the time he has in the form and master its power. The form was purely of his own energy, and sapped a lot of it out of him. About a year later, Smash tried a different method of extending the time. Instead of just grinning and bearing the energy loss, trying to hold out as long as he could, he decided to try to conserve and control his energy a bit better. He intended to make it feel normal to power up to High Tension, and then when he actually needed the power, he could bring out even more of it. This method lead to the successful level up of High Tension. He then began temporarily training with Arc Aungel.
His success was all because Smash had realized just how weak he really was, compared to others, during the Cosmic Championship. Around nearly all of his friends, he is possibly the most powerful out of them all. But after entering fighting tournaments around the world--and even the multiverse--to test his meddle, he's come to realize that his current strength is like a long time milestone to the other fighters. However, this did not hurt him (too much). Instead, He's used that fact to fuel his determination to become stronger. But, despite what he thought before, he was already a force to be reckoned with. Such proved in the World Hero Tournament, where he defeated a telepathic wolf.
Smash began training outside after realizing that his training disturbed his children's sleep in the morning.
After training, Smash heads in for breakfast, which is exactly when he stops training actually. Smash generally stays inside until noon, when he heads to the Blitz Pit to check for any challenges against him or if there is a tournament being held. Smash afterwards hangs out with his buddies until sunset, which is around the time he heads back home. On days he doesn't head out to the Blitz Pit he'll generally stay home and spend time with his family. That is how he goes about his daily routine.
While at the Blitz Pit, Smash even does some of his training there while waiting for news on his next match. His income is mainly from fighting at the arena. People challenge each other depending on their ranks. They can only challenge people of the same rank or one rank higher. If they manage to beat everyone in the same rank then they go up to the next one. If they beat 2 people of a higher rank then they go up to the next one, with a head start on the people they have to beat. If someone they already beat challenges them and beats them, then they'll have to fight them again to regain that win. Winning fights in higher ranks earns them more money than the lower ranks. Smash's rank is pretty high, but not the highest. He has ways to go, but he is a good fighter and he works his way up smoothly. Of course, everything is set aside for when a tournament comes up. The prize is generally a large trophy and a wad of bills, but sometimes its even more grand. Especially when it's a world tournament, hold once every summer. Smash has only won a world tournament once in his life, and it was out of luck.
Smash was born in Emerald Town and lived there until he was 3, when his family moved to Station Square to be closer to the Blitz Pit in Green Flower City. But they didn't stay there long and they moved a little house in Green Flower Zone. When Smash was about 14, his parents had passed away, and he along with his little sister had lived alone ever since. Smash joined the Blitz Pit about a year later, and that's when he began meeting all of his current friends. Speedy was his first friend, next to Violet. Some time later, he got married and moved into Green Flower City. Pearl still looks after their old house, and stays there sometimes. She mainly lives with Smash though.Smash next to his motorcycle
Smash often takes the role of the "leader" when he's on an adventure. One might say the reason for this is that he is the oldest of the group, but what really counts is the fact that he always takes the initiative, and is more or less the gang's voice of reason. He takes this role seriously and does his best to lead everyone to victory. As the leader, Smash looks after all his friends and comrades. He not only leads them, but cares for them, and won't let anyone get left behind. He looks at his friends as his family, and thus treats them like family. His wife noticed this, and even commented on how he works too hard to look after everybody.
Smash also sees himself as a sort of "undercover unofficial detective", as he likes to put it. It all started in a fanfic which evolved into an RP, where he and his sister, Pearl, solved the mystery of a murder. Years later, he solved a personal mystery of a thief who stole his motorcycle, then sometime afterwards, solved the two intertwined Smash as a Defense Attorney
mysteries, in which someone was out to kill him and a fighter at the blitz pit suddenly went berserk. He likes to call himself a detective, but he never goes out looking for mysteries. He doesn't have to, though. They always come up to him.
Smash pretended to be a lawyer to prove his friend, Hyper The Hedgehog, innocent during a trial in the RP "The Unexpected Turnabout". Gizmo The Cat made an almost perfect replica of a defense attorney's badge, pulling an all-nighter on it. Smash intended to take the Bar Exam so that he would legally be a lawyer, however, there was scarcely enough time. Shortly after the trial, he took the bar exam anyway to get himself a real badge, (in a completely different city,) so that no one would get onto him about it, and for just in case he ever had to do something like this again, which he strongly wishes that didn't. He told himself, and his friends after the trial "Oh, I am never doing this again.", despite getting a real badge afterwards. Much to his dismay, he ended up in the courtroom again--At leastfourmoretimes.
Items Currently In Possession
Aqua Gloves: Mysterious water elemental gloves created and presented to him by his wife, Luna The Hedgehog, for their anniversary. With these equipped, he is capable of producing water based attacks as well as manipulating water around him. He still hasn't quite mastered this yet, but he can use it effectively now.
Ultra Smasher Claws: A weapon created by Gizmo The Cat. The gloves increase his strength greatly, as well as having blood red spikes attached to the knuckle area. The spikes were specially designed to curve to look more like claws. They can tear through his opponents.(In Splice The Hedgehog, the Ultra Smasher Claws are his ultimate weapon.)
Canteen of Miracle Water: This is all that's left of the mythical Miracle Water. At least, out of what he had stored in two whole barrels. This water is capable of curing any known illness. It was protected by the ghosts in The Outbreak, who told them to never come back. With only a single canteen of it left, he has to be wise if he were to use it on someone.
Miracle Serum: A small bottle with a potion that has the power to cure any disease or injury instantly. Given to him by Laniatus and Nemesis at the end of Numbered Days. Smash can't help but feel that it contains Miracle Water.
Strange Stone Necklace: Given to both him and his wife at his wedding, This allows him to sense where the wielder of the other stone is, and how high their "life force" is. In this case, that would be his wife. He usually keeps it tucked into his shirt, should he wear it. Otherwise it's left shown hanging from his neck.
World Hero Tournament Letter: The invitation to the World Hero Tournament. Acts as the key to entering "Betwixt and Between" He technically has no use for this anymore, but keeps it around just in case.
Guard Gauntlets: A lock-on for his gloves, made by Gizmo. They can be used on any gloves, or even by themselves and lock onto one's bare hands. Made of tough and thick steel, they are meant to guard the back of one's hands down to just below their wrists. They could be very handy if he encountered an enemy with a blade of some sorts.

History
Smash has come a long way. He originally started out as a blue Knuckles recolor, based off of the blue Knuckles glitch in Sonic 3& Knuckles. He was greatly overpowered--even more powerful than Knuckles himself, and had a very bad temper. Although he was smarter than Knuckles, not being nearly as gullible.
As the years went by, his personality developed into a mature and responsible character. Conveniently as he was aging as the years passed. His powers were toned down a little bit at a time until eventually he had no super strength rivaling Knuckles anymore. He is still very powerful and well built. Smash also slowly developed a new look. First he acquired cyan wrist bands, then a contribution by Sykog77 lead him to getting shorter hair and big brown boots with a black patch on the top of each. Soon afterwards, the spikes on his knuckles were removed and his gloves were turned into regular fingered gloves instead of giant mittens like Knuckles. That lasted for a while, until his hairstyle was completely redone; Which leads Smash to where he is today.
Smash once made a reference to the old days of when he was a recolor by saying that he used to be "young and foolish back in the day".
Smash first appeared on the Sonic X forums of 4kids.tv. Being surrounded by fancharacters just as bad as he was at the time, It took him far longer than it should have to improve. Despite that fact, 4kids was a very important place for his character. It was the place where he first met Luna The Hedgehog - his wife, Jenny The Hedgehog - An old friend who's passing lead to a great story, and many other characters who lead him to what Chibi Smash
he is now. It also lead to the long drawn out battle between Frost and Dark Kirby to involve him and all of Mobius as well, (which quite literally took four years.) and ultimately lead to the huge crossover. As of now the crossover has been severed.
Smash originally had a backstory that "explained" what really caused his parents death. Metal Sonic had captured them and murdered them in cold blood. And for some reason there was a tape showing what'd happened in their back yard. For what point or purpose was unknown. And considering the timeline, Metal Sonic shouldn't have even been created at the time. The idea was scrapped afterwards, and no new ideas for a backstory were thought up. Evidently, he was left with no story. And many prefer that he had no story either. His parents death are unknown. Its just known that Smash was an orphan and raised his sister until they were grown up. Its also known that they died the day after Pearl's birthday on April 4th.
? = RP has stopped for any number of reasons. Or has never began.
The End of the World?: Smash was the main character of the story. While spending some time with Kyle Tyris, Keela Tyris, and Marina The Echidna, He soon got the news that strange creatures were invading. He went out to investigate and confronted the creatures. After several frightening events, Smash and his friends discovered a box inside of a temple. After taking it out and opening it, he was shocked to find a girl inside. At that instant, more of the creatures attacked, and Smash was forced to fight them off while trying to protect the girl who was still unconscious. The girl then woke up, and saw him and his friends fighting, and-to their surprise-transformed into a sword for Kyle to use. Kyle was shocked at first, but then used the sword to fight them off. After the battle, the team left to find a safe place to regroup. The girl transformed back into her original form and told him her name. She was Amerie, but her history was still a mystery to them. She agreed to help them out. Afterwards, Kyle sought to find the source of the creatures and put an end to them once and for all, while Smash had gone to check on other people and make sure that they were safe.
'☆'Smash The Echidna and Luna The Hedgehog's Wedding: Just as the name implies. In previous events, Smash had proposed to Luna The Hedgehog, and had his wedding in this RP.
'☆'The Unexpected Turnabout: Smash was the main character of the story. Hyper had gotten arrested for murder, and Smash pretended to be a lawyer to save him and prove that he was innocent. The whole case was rather crazy, as there was no evidence displayed until near the end of the trial. They eventually went through both legal and illegal ways to prove the real culprit guilty. The Black Rose Orphanage, located in Green Flower City, was directly linked. In fact, it was the reason the victim died.
Splice The Hedgehog (RP of the Fangame): The events that transpired in the game was made into a roleplay.
☆The Shadow Crystal Cloud Tournament: After recieving the ominous call to all the fighters in the world to enter a fighting tournament held in the sky, Smash suspects something is up and goes to fight and investigate what's really going on. On his way he met with Krinkinko The Hedgehog, Shade "Tendril" Nightwing, and Vendetta Aungel. Along with Rachel the Goat, much to his dismay.
?The Cosmic Championship: After the disaster at the Shadow Crystal Cloud Tournament, Smash and several other people were summoned to fight at the Cosmic Championship. Their host, was once again a voice from an unknown origin. Smash was immediately suspicious of him, but soon came to realize that this host was honest this time. During the first round, he came to realize just how weak he was in comparison to the other fighters. Ironically, that same revelation is what caused his level up in his High Tension state.
World Hero Tournament: Once again invited to another fighting tournament, this time his sister accidentally got caught up in it with him. She decides to enter the tournament and test her meddle. The tournament is much more complex than the one's Smash is used to, which lead him to feeling rather excited about it.
☆Numbered Days: A mysterious demonic man attacks both Station Square and Green Flower City, leaving an unsettling 無 mark on the ground in each city. Smash, coming to fight him out of his home town, soon finds Splice with the same mark on his forehead. An immediate meeting was scheduled at his house.
The Mystery of Skull Cross: Smash is the main character of the story. Over the years, Smash kept hearing about a space organization, who killed his friend Jenny. For years, he had been secretly looking into this matter with his sister, Pearl. He even had a rough encounter with them, but the enemy escaped. Now, after finding out the horrifying connection between his friend, Cymbeline The Hedgehog, and the organization, he cannot keep it secret any longer. He called a meeting at his house to inform all his friends of the situation, and work it out together. (The sequel to Splice The Hedgehog.)
Odyssey: When a seemingly invincible man named V begins a dimensional conquest, Smash finds himself being swept up into the mess and separated from his friends as they get scattered across the dimensions...
Moonlight Visitor: With summer vacation right around the corner, Smash found this to be a good time to invite all of his friends over for a party and a barbecue. However, that night, Gizmo's best friend Micheal ends up finding a mysterious figure in the back yard alongside Smash, and they are lead into the forest outside of the city, where a strange girl falls from the sky shrouded in a heavenly light. Mike's sister, Lina, had a nightmare where the girl in the light was a monster who killed him...
?The Blitz Pit World Tournament ~ 2011: It's that time of the year again. The World Tournament is underway. Of course Smash is determined to win. But once again his competetion makes his chances look questionable, even as strong as he has become now...
?Dreamspace: Lately everyone in town has been slowing down with drowsiness. Smash, only slightly effected by it, thinks that something weird is going on. He is more than just right...the mass insomnia is just a side-effect of something much bigger.
Memories of David The Echidna: After the World Tournament, Smash and a bunch of fighters from the Blitz Pit decide to take a break and hang out together in the lobby. They chatted about the tournament, amongst other things, until one person mentioned David The Echidna dying from a car accident. Being David's son, Smash demanded to know how he knew that--because he had never heard anything about the cause of his father's death. This drove Smash to set out on an investigation. Going through his father's stuff he left behind in the Blitz Pit's storage, he found an old suit of armor, unlike any he'd ever seen before...
Ever since the day Smash's parents passed away, Smash took care of Pearl by himself. He cares for her a lot, and does whatever he can to keep her in safety and good health. The two of them get along very nicely. Although Smash can sometimes be a bit overprotective of his sister, he can accept the fact that she can hold up on her own now. He trained her in martial arts, and she is nearly as powerful as he is. Even with all the training, Smash still worries about her every now and then, and tries to keep in touch often. Through the recent conflicts and adventures, their bond has strengthened.
Crash The Echidna
Smash thinks of Crash as more of a buddy than a distant cousin. Back in their younger days, they were often playmates, and always did everything together. As they grew up, they lead their own lives and they rarely see each other anymore. They still occasionally talk via phone line, and he comes to visit Smash on special occasions. Rarely, fate has brought them together for an adventure again. Crash is also the one who gave Smash his motorcycle for his 18th Birthday.
Diamond The Echidna
Diamond is who Smash thinks more of as a cousin. Surprisingly, They don't talk often. Every time Smash hears from one of them, its almost always Crash, or his uncle Spikes. Even though they haven't socialized as much as they should, He still loves her as his cousin.
Friends
Smash has many friends, although he doesn't see them all often. The ones he does see and hang out with on a regular occasion, he and everyone else refers to themselves as "The Gang". The Gang includes Smash, Violet The Hedgehog, Splice The Hedgehog, Pearl The Echidna, Gizmo, Lucy, and Tab The Cats, Speedy The Hedgehog, Lily The Hedgehog, and finally, Shade The Dark Chao. They generally go on walks together and chat along the way, and just overall hang out.
Smash knows Sonic mainly by the stories he's heard about his adventures. He's actually accompanied him on one of his adventures, and vice versa. The two of each other are more of acquaintances rather than friends though.
Violet is the girlfriend of his best friend, Speedy The Hedgehog. He actually helped on both sides to get the two together. Smash see's Violet as a friend, and also an apprentice. Violet had asked him to train her and teach her how to fight. Smash didn't question why, since at the time they still had a dangerous enemy to defeat. Violet was one of Smash's first friends.
He befriended Splice a little later on, as one of his friends welcomed him into The Gang. Even though they aren't best friends, they are quite often running into each other on the road, and end up hanging out for a while. One thing he likes about him is that he's definitely not the type of person to leave someone in danger.
Smash first met Thunder when he and some of his friends were trying to find a ship to use to reach a destination across the sea. Thunder is a sailor and captain of the Thunder Bolt, along with his siblings: Lightning, Electric, and Zap. Smash really doesn't see him often, and hates to think of him more as a tool to sail the seas rather than a friend. Almost every time he tries to visit, they're at sea.
Smash really doesn't know Lightning all that well. But recently he's been talking to him more often, especially since Lightning is now the boyfriend of his sister in law.
Electric is one of Smash's good friends. The two of them think alike, although their ways of speaking their minds are different. Smash is sarcastic and tends to rant about a lot of things, but Electric is a lot calmer about matters. Electric is very straightforward and honest. The two of them get along very well.
Smash does not know Zap very well. And there is a good reason for this: Zap is very shy. He isn't very open towards anyone but his brothers or very close friends. Smash tries to be kind around him to get him to talk to him, but there was little success. But one thing for sure, He has earned Zap's trust.
Smash is rather fond of Kyle. He's the most honest and honorable person that he ever met. And he's also very different from all of his other friends. The unique traits are what Smash likes most about him. Kyle is one of his closest friends, despite the fact that he lives so far away.
He doesn't hang out with Crystal too often, despite being neighbors. He thinks of her as a friend, though can't help but watch over her like an older brother. He mainly knows her through his sister, Pearl, who is best friends with her.
Gizmo is the "geek of the gang", or at least that's what Shade refers to him as. Gizmo is a young inventor who spends most of his days in his basement, working on new gadgets and other interesting things. He is the one who created Smash's powerful weapon, The Ultra Smasher Claws. (In Splice The Hedgehog, The Ultra Smasher Claws are Smash's ultimate weapon.) Smash respects him for his work and intelligence. They get along pretty well. Smash also gets along well with his buddy, Kitty The Cat Chao. Although Smash likes just about any chao just so long as it isn't outright ugly.
Speedy is probably Smash's best buddy. They've been through pretty much everything together, or so they feel. He was the second friend Smash ever made, originally starting out as one of his fans from the Blitz Pit. Speedy often came to him for advice on various things, and looked up to him like an older brother, making Smash to be like a mentor to him. Speedy can be kind of weird at times. And his over sensitive, hot-tempered personality makes it really easy for Smash to tease him. Nevertheless, They are still best friends. Out of all his friends, Speedy is the one he trusts the most.
Luna was Smash's first and only love. He met her at the age of 16 through some unexpected events, and they quickly became friends and developed feelings for each other. It wasn't long before she became his girlfriend. They got married on Friday, January 2nd, 2009, and they now have 4 children. Shade, his first son, Grace and Salina, his twin daughters, and Dash, his last son. Before they had children, Luna used to accompany Smash and friends on their adventures, as a faithful member of the gang. Though afterwards, she began to settle down with the kids, but still sends her support from home. Luna created the Aqua Knuckles specifically for Smash. With them, Smash is able to control water around him and even produce water from the gloves. As long as he wears them, he is granted water powers, like Luna herself. (In Splice The Hedgehog, the Aqua Knuckles are one of Smash's later weapons.)
Shada The Hedgehog
As his sister in law, Smash shows respect and kindness towards her and acts like a caring brother towards her. Which he technically is. He isn't nearly as protective about her as he is with Pearl though, because he knows that Shada can hold up on her own.
Sam The Hedgehog
They used to argue and fight all the time before Smash married his sister. Nowadays, they're on somewhat good terms. They act like friendly rivals, when they're in a "good mood".
Lily The Hedgehog
Lily is a strange one indeed. As a part of the gang, Smash hangs out with her every now and then. But he really does try to avoid her. She seems to have a thing for "decorating" his house with ladybug stickers...
Flame "Ignition" The Hedgehog
A little more of an acquaintance than an actual friend. The two of them worked together on a few occasions to get themselves and others out of a few jams.
Hyper The Hedgehog
Smash has always been there to back him up, ever since the Secret of the Mutants. He knows that Hyper's had a hard life, and he still is, so he looks after him.
Star The Porcupine
An friend of Smash's. Smash met her under serious conditions and ended up helping to save her life. They get along pretty well and she often invites him to various events she's holding, i.e the grand opening of her museum or on a vacation to a tropical island. He hasn't heard from her in at least two or three years.
Another member of the gang, although she's more of a closer friend that he'd hang out with even without everyone else. The two of them get along well. She is smart and uses a lot of common sense, leading the two of them together to be pro's at solving mysteries.
Shade The Dark Chao
Shade is a very spiteful and rude guy, but he's pretty good when it comes down to it. Shade thinks Smash is cool and often hangs out with him. As Shade puts it: "Smash is cool and he knows he's cool. I'm cool and I know I'm cool. Smash is cool and he knows I'm cool, I'm cool and I know Smash is cool." The two share the same opinions and views on various different subjects, so they get along pretty well...Most of the time. Regardless, Shade still makes snarky and sarcastic comments toward Smash when he gets the chance. Smash rarely seems bothered by it, though, and sometimes even finds it amusing. He'll snark back and defeat Shade at his own game, but even Shade sometimes takes it lightly as well.
Daz The Hedgehog
The two are buddies, and they've gone out on a couple of adventures with each other. (Daz&Smash series) They get along pretty well and sometimes spar with each other. Although on numerous occasions Smash has topped him in their battles, even though they never did finish most of them.
The two met at the Shadow Crystal Cloud tournament, and had to face each other in the first round. Krinkinko looks up to Smash with respect, as he easily stopped a (rather onsided) fight between him and the referee who thought that he was flirting with her with a responsible scolding to both of them, and also defeated him in battle. He even admitted that Smash was his hero. But nowadays Smash is rather irritated with Krink's behavior, as he acts without thinking about the outcome, and then comes to him for help. This lead to a lot of stress for Smash because he doesn't always listen to his advice. Lately they haven't been on the best of terms with each other, and are somewhat avoiding contact.
A person he met in the Blitz Pit. He is what Smash considers a "Worthy Opponent". They both share similar abilities when it comes to Martial Arts, which is what they both resorted to when they faced off. Smash is obviously stronger physically, but Terrador, like Smash, rapidly improved. And he quickly picked up on Smash's fighting style, soon coming back to face Smash in the ring again with several strategies to use to defeat him, much like his own. He is the only one who brought Smash to his limits by relying heavily (not entirely) on hand to hand combat. Overall, Smash holds a lot of respect for him.
Rock The Unicorn
Smash is very suspicious of this person. Rock only seems to show up when something's wrong. He has no idea where to find him otherwise. He's also noticed that he seems to be jealous of Kyle's relationship with Marina. The main thing that disturbed him was his ominous question towards him, when he asked what he'd do if he were to betray them. This happening during a monster invasion.
Normally Smash isn't very fond of Monkeys, but he's rather tolerant with this one. He could actually call him his friend. The two only met up during life threateningly serious situations though, so that may be why they got off to a good start.
Not a bad guy once he got to know him better, (and once he had his arrogance beaten out of him.) They occasionally meet and work together in some situations. Smash finds it slightly unsettling with the way he can control shadows, though.
Enemies
Smash has had few enemies, but they all were ruthless and threatening.
(Official Characters)
Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik
A classic villain. Smash didn't pay too much attention to him, seeing how Sonic always took care of him. Though if something came up that concerned him, he would be right on the case. Only a few times have Smash gone up against him when it didn't entirely concern him.
Smash has only heard about him from Kyle. A dark hedgehog that uses Kyle's name in his own, and attacked Tillia with an army of robots alongside Dr. Robotnik. Smash has a feeling that Kyle didn't tell him the whole story.
(Other Characters)
Unknown Group/Skull Cross
Over the years, Smash kept hearing about them, and how they killed his old friend, Jenny. He had an encounter with them, but only learned that G.U.N is also against them, which means that they are apparently a national threat. He still tries to find out more about them.
Smash wouldn't mind this person too much, if he didn't constantly insult and/or try to attack him. Metal is always annoying Smash, to the point where he wants to tear his hair out. (Metal's, not his own.) Seeing how Metal shows up every time something's going on that he's involved with, Smash has the feeling that Metal is stalking him just to try and beat him up. Metal has not once defeated him. Though Metal claims to have changed his ways.
He's not buying it.
Brian The Hedgehog
Though this guy was put to justice already, Brian went through so much trouble to have him killed purely out of jealousy. Brian was a fighter at the Blitz Pit, who could never succeed because he couldn't beat Smash. He went so far as to trying to crash an airplane he happened to be riding on with his friends heading to Speedy's cousin, Phil's Birthday party.
The man trying to conquer all of the dimensions. He would do anything in his power to stop him from reaching his goal.
Fun Facts
Often when Smash is talking about something he doesn't approve of, he'll get carried away ranting about it. In an interview with him, he trailed off ranting about the holidays, and now he's often called back so they can hear him rant about other things as well. These short one sided roleplays are often referred to as "Smash Rants".
For some odd reason, people like to intercept his pizza before it arrives at his house. This may be the reason he encourages homemade.
Smash does not like Monkeys.
The battle cry, "Urrghii", evolved from a startled cry all the way to an emotion. The emotion "Urrghii" is best described as "the pumped up feeling you get when you're in a battle". How it transformed from the startled cry is unknown. It's still used in the same ways as before.
Smash once made a joke about how hungry he was by merging the two words "Hungry" and "Urrghii" together. The results were "HungUURRGHIII!!!".
Smash can Not pilot a plane or any aircraft.
Smash can sometimes be a showoff, just for the heck of it.
Smash likes to flick his thumb past his nose like Bruce Lee.
Smash has tried to crack his knuckles at very fitting moments but failed due to having cracked them before hand.
Smash sometimes takes his motorcycle out for joyrides.
Smash doesn't like anyone but people he knows who are not bumbling, clumsy, or incompetent to even touch his motorcycle.
A sprite of Smash was once altered so that the black part of his yin-yang symbol on his T-shirt was changed to red, greatly resembling a pokeball from the Pokemon series.
Smash likes Coffee
Smash also likes 7up.
Smash was once attacked in the forest and forced to take a shower.
Smash is quite good with children, despite what seemingly a lot of other people think.
Never, On Any circumstance, interrupt Smash when he's giving a speech about "Urrghii".
Smash never facepalmed harder than when Speedy tried to explain why he was currently stuck inside of a water cooler.
It is rumored that the one person who almost defeated the Host of the Cosmic Championship was none other than Smash's father, David The Echidna.
Ironically, given the fact that it's a family of Echidna's, Smash has the biggest family in the entire series.
To count them off, there's his sister Pearl, his parents David and Sarah. His uncle Spikes and his grandmother, Rose. His two cousins Crash and Diamond. His adoptive niece Sandy. And his wife Luna, and their four children, Shade, Salina, Grace, and Dash. And then we have the In-laws...
Smash has been dubbed a "Knight in Shining Armor" by his wife, after he returned home with his father's upgraded armor. Fittingly enough, his wife is a princess...

Group Quotes
"...You've got a family now. You've had one all this time; for as long as we've been here." "What do you mean?" "All of us; Me, Speedy, Violet, Tab, Gizmo...Everyone. Even Daz and Cymbeline. We're all family here." "What? But we're not..." "Not related by blood? Most of us are completely different species. But that doesn't matter. We stick together, no matter what. We share the pains, the burdens, and everything else together. No matter what happens, we'll be there for each other. That's...what makes us family."
"Yo, Speedy! I expected you to be farther back. Thought I missed you for a while there." "Ah, you underestimate me, Smash! I'm disappointed. Speedy's my middle name! Of course I almost beat you there on foot." "So your name's Speedy Speedy." "Er, First name. You know what I mean!"
~An exchange between Smash and Speedy on their way to the police station, while the former was riding his motorcycle. - Memories of David The Echidna.
