Sonic Adventure 3 (also known as SA3) is a fan-made Sega game available for the GameCube. It is the VERY FIRST (and probably last) of the Sonic games to be based upon the Sonic Archie comics (character and level-wise, at least). It follows the different story mechanisms of Sonic Adventure 2. (Team Hero and Team Dark). It has these Stage types;

• Running (run to the goal)
• Escape (much like Amy's stages in SA1, the character doing these stages is usually small and/or cute)
• Treasure Hunt (find the three whatevers, Master Emerald shards, Chaos Emeralds, etc etc...)
• Goal Finder (a bit like the Treasure Hunt, but you must find a specific object/area by using logic and puzzles (and sometimes brute force) in order to win (and it takes a while, too, but is really quite fun).

However, not all of the teams make use of all categories; the Guard and Arctic stories, for example, have no Treasure Hunt stages, due to the lack of a flying character. This game also makes use of Adventure Fields, like in the first Sonic Adventure.

All of the teams (except for Knothole Team) have six characters. However, three in the Knothole Team (namely Sally, Bunnie and Chuki) must be unlocked first.

The Chao Garden mechanics have been changed a bit in this game.

Role Play

The Role Play is a very unique gameplay option in Sonic Adventure 3. It allows you to take ANY of the characters (both normal gameplay characters and Chao Garden/Role Play only characters) and run around and explore massive stages. The point of this is purely for fun. Up to four players can participate, and all of the areas are interconnected. You can even record your shenanigans!

Role Play Mechanics

Basically, up to four characters can participate. Everyone chooses a character and then selects their starting area. They can all start in the same area, or they can choose different areas/ All of the areas are interconnected with portals, so you pretty much have all of the stages to explore at your leisure. Most of them are remodeled to support more of a freelance exploration (rather than a straightforward running stage).Characters that do Treasure Hunt Stages (or ones that are labeled in bold in the section Chao Garden/Role Play NPC's) can glide and scale walls in order to access hidden areas more easily than their ground-bound friends (however, some of the non-Treasure Hunt characters can still fly, namely Charmy and Saffron Bee).

Special Role Play Items(?)

There are rumors of special items that are only obtainable in the Role Play mode! Rare Chao Eggs, secret Emblems, who knows? You'll have to look for yourself!

Trivia

• Kimmy uses the jets in her roboticized lower legs to glide.
• The game is similar to "Sonic Heroes" though you can play as 1 character (SA2) but the team names are based off what side they are on.
