Inspiration
Animation
The animation takes inspiration from the Golden Age of American animation from 1928 through the early 60's, and the more modern cartoons from the 90's such as the Ren and Stimpy Show, Tiny Toons Adventures, Animaniacs and, ironically, the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Preston has expressed how most animated shows currently have rather flat animation and wanted to make Sonic the Hedgehog different from other shows. He hired the best animators from Rough Draft Studios and TMS Entertainment to provide animation.
Humor
Preston has taken inspiration from current shows such as Adventure Time and Regular Show and older shows like Animaniacs and Looney Tunes. He appreciated the humor of those shows and had always made him laugh.
