Learned Techniques

These attacks and techniques are ones that Statyx has derived from others, learning through either observation or active training. Barring differences in overall effectiveness (speed, power, scale, etc) these abilities are no different from how their original forms and uses.

  • (Note: Both Sonic and Shadow have displayed numerous one-off abilities in a menagerie of games, both main series and spin offs. If an unlisted attack or technique requires a weapon or specific item, Statyx cannot perform it without said weapon or item. Otherwise, assume he is capable of using the attack in question listed or not.)

Unique Techniques

These are attacks and techniques Statyx has created himself, either variants of established attacks or original attacks of Statyx's own design.

Spark Attack

Statyx's own take on the staple Homing Attack. Upon jumping Statyx turns into a ball of electricity before launching himself at the target, driving directly into their body and electrocuting them with his invasive presence. Statyx can launch himself from his current target directly to another nearby enemy, chaining through them repeatedly. Spark Attack can also allow Statyx to home in on locations with conductive materials for quick travel. Because of its speed and efficiency, the Spark Attack is one of Statyx's go-to moves for quickly taking care of large numbers of weak enemies, to the naked eye looking as if he struck them down by becoming a bolt of lightning.

While Spark Attack is an overall upgrade to the Homing Attack with faster enemy chaining and increased power from Statyx's electrokinesis, it carries a few drawbacks. First off, its electrical nature makes it much less effective against enemies with a means to resist or deflect electricity. Secondly, while the Homing Attack can be performed almost infinitely so long as the user has the ability and available targets, Statyx can only attack so many targets with Spark Attack before he has to revert to a physical form. Originally Spark Attack also came with the drawback of requiring significant electrical energy, but over time this requirement has become insignificant for Statyx, only becoming an issue when Statyx's stamina has reached its limit.

Volt Dash

An electricity-based Spin Dash variation. Instead of simply building up speed by curling up and spinning in place, Statyx charges up electricity and turns himself int a rolling ball of lightning, tearing through any enemies in his way. In addition to the typical properties of a Spin Dash while the Volt Dash is in use electricity will arc off of Statyx and shock any enemies within his vicinity, even if Statyx doesn't come in direct contact with them. While using Volt Dash Statyx can pass through conductive materials like metal walls.

Like the Spark Attack, the Volt Dash is by and large an electrified upgrade to the Spin Dash, but comes with a few drawbacks. Sharing its reduced effectiveness against electricity-resistant enemies, the Volt Dash can be deflected or outright repelled by insulated materials with relative ease, compared to the Spin Dash which requires significant fortification or specific design to counter.

Boombounce

A thunderous take on the Bounce Attack. While in the air Statyx surrounds himself in an electrical field much like his Tesla Shield before launching himself at the ground or the desired enemy. Upon impact the field explodes in a thundering blast; if Statyx strikes the ground the resulting impact staggers and knocks down most enemies of similar size, while striking an individual enemy has the effect of dazing and deafening the unfortunate victim.

While a powerful method of incapacitating multiple enemies or larger and more fearsome opponents, the Boombounce is one of Statyx's few attacks that doesn't come off as a more costly upgrade. This is because in tandem with its elemental weaknesses and increased toll on Statyx, Boombounce trades the Bounce Attack's power and speed for its crowd-controlling properties; the time required to generate the electrical field requires more time between strikes, and that same field actually cushions Statyx's impact with its explosion, making the Boombounce less effective for the intents of raw damage or gaining altitude.

Blackout Dash

Taser Shot

The first ranged electrokinetic attack Statyx was able to develop, eventually becoming one of his most basic and frequently used attacks. Statyx focuses electricity through his fingers and converges it all at a single point in the palm of his hand, forming a baseball-sized orb of electricity, then throws it at the desired target. Alternatively Statyx can focus electricity through the metallic soles of his boots and launch it at the target with a kicking motion. Upon impact the Taser Shot electrocutes the target with concentrated electrical currents. Due to Statyx's unique electrical output the Taser Shot typically carries a certain amount of concussive force as well. Thanks to Statyx's training he has exceptional aim with this skill, able to curve it and launch with enough accuracy that to the less-informed or inexperienced it can appear to have homing properties.

When Statyx first developed this technique it was almost the definition of impractical; it ate up most of his electrical output, took valuable time to charge up, and could hardly do more than take out weak machinery and briefly irritate anything more powerful. Upon fully mastering his electrical output however, the Taser Shot became a zero-effort technique that Statyx can generate instantly from his hands or feet, launch with a single movement, and is capable of taking out the run of the mill mook with a single direct hit. Even for enemies on a level similar to Statyx who would take negligible direct damage from the attack it is ill-advised to just disregard it, as Taser Shot's electrifying capabilities can incapacitate even exceptionally powerful enemies for brief periods; long enough for Statyx to follow up with his much more powerful techniques. This is exacerbated by the fact that Statyx has no hesitations about outright spamming Taser Shot, unloading a barrage of them to pin down and pressure his target.

Tesla Shield

Tesla Shield is Statyx's primary- or rather, only- dedicated defensive ability developed from his electrokinesis. Statyx performs Tesla Shield by generating a localized electrical field in the shape and size desired, typically a spherical barrier centered around himself. The resulting field forms a defensive barrier of electricity capable of blocking both physical and energy-based attacks with equal effectiveness. This is because the Tesla Shield combines three defensive components; static repulsion, energy currents, and Statyx's ability to give his electricity mass-like interactivity. Combining these three aspects gives Statyx's Tesla Shield a defensive strength and durability thoroughly unexpected of an electricity-based barrier. Though typically formed as a sphere around himself, Statyx can form the Tesla Shield in a menagerie of shapes and scales from large singular walls for mass protection or smaller spheres around his hands for actively deflecting incoming attacks.

While a defensive ability Statyx has gone to great lengths to hone, the Tesla Shield is not infallible. Its effectiveness and duration are entirely dependent as Statyx's ability to output a continuous charge to sustain it, and the larger the shield the thinner Statyx's power is spread. Even Statyx's go-to version of the Tesla Shield can be overwhelmed by significant and continuous pressure from multiple directions (such as a large enough mass of earth or water). Finally, the unprecedented defensive strength of the Tesla Shield requires Statyx sacrifice one of his greatest assets; his mobility. Anything larger than a fist-sized variation is impossible for Statyx to maintain while moving for anything more than a single moment.
