Sonic's Story

Chapter 1: Proemium

The story takes place shortly after the events of The Chronicles of Sonic the Hedgehog: Rise of the Heroes. It is night and Sonic is seen in a party, along with many of his friends, celebrating their victory upon Eggman's defeat. There is music playing in the background and dance. Sonic is seen having a drink in the bar when Amy appears and talks to him. She gives him a present inside a box and tells him to come dance with her. Sonic tells her that he will in a minute. He starts walking by and opens his present. It is a rubber ball in the size of his palm. As Sonic is observing it, it falls off his hands and rolls inside a green labyrinth. Sonic goes after it. He wanders inside the dark green labyrinth until he finds it. As he leans down to pick it up, a sparkle of light appears right in front of his eyes. Suddenly, 2 with 3 shadows appear. "Please, you have got to help us, you're our only hope." they say and the scene cuts to black.

Sonic wakes up in a deserted and destroyed city. He wanders around it and wonders where he is. He sees some newspapers on the ground and tries to pick them up to read them in order to figure out where he is. In the background, we hear a freedom fighter talking. He narrates that these are dark times they are living in. Humans are on the verge of extinction and the world is devestated by chaos and crisis. The world is now ruled by an evil dictator and the only ones left to defeat him are a group of fighters, Freedom Fighters who have created their own bases underground the earth's surface to battle against that ruler's tyrrany for a better future. We hear all that from a Freedom Fighter in the middle of the battlefield, as he is writing his diary. The Freedom Fighters prepare for a battle against the evil dictator's army. He closes his diary and grabs his weapon ready to get into the battlefield. Baxter, Larson and Sullivan are talking about their plan behind a large rock. Then, the freedom fighter jumps out of the hideout and gets into the battle, Sullivan, Larson and Baxter attack as well. At that moment, Sonic, as he is walking on a valley, he sees the battle with the Freedom Fighters against a vast army of robots. Sonic decides to head there to see what is happening and to assist them. (Zelion: Happening City) & (Zelion: Devestated Drive). Sonic ends up in the battlefield with the Freedom Fighters. However, the Freedom Fighters lose that battle and the enemy leaves. Baxter, Larson and Solomon see Sonic and realise that their plan to teleport him in the future has succeeded. Sonic asks them where exaclty he is and who they are. Baxter, who appears to be kind of negative towards Sonic's arrival, tells him to follow them to their base at Outpost X in order to discuss certain things since it is not safe here. Sonic agrees to go with them. (Great Forest: Great Ent). Sonic and Freedom Fighter team decides to stay in the forest for the night until they reach their destination.

The next morning, as they wake up, Placido the Wolf, along with with a team of familiar looking robots attacks the forest. Placido notices Sonic and instantly attacks him. Sonic tries to fight back. (Boss: Placido the Wolf). Placido loses the battle and flees away with his army of robots. Sonic asks Baxter who that guy was. Baxter tells him that he was simply the best Freedom Fighter there was and continues walking to their base. Sonic continues as well. (Great Forest: Feral Forest).

Chapter 2: All is Revealed

Sonic and the Freedom Fighters arrive at ther base, Outpost X. It is in the middle of a wasteland, with a gloomy, red sky and red-black ruins of buildings. The area is guarded by many soldiers and robots. As they are walking, they reach the gate of the base, where they encounter Shadow, who seems to have survived all these years, guarding the door. Both are surprised and more than happy to see each other as familiar faces. They both greet each other and enter the base. Baxter first introduces himself to Sonic, then introduces him to Larson, Solomon, Rosaline and Sky Prower the team's engineer and mechanic and Turbulence, the team's pilot. Sonic asks them where he is and what is going on. Baxter reveals him the truth. Baxter and his team of Freedom Fighters called him upon 100 years in a post apocalyptic future using Sky's time machine, where an evil dictator known as Immarius has taken over the entire world and extinguished nearly all of its population, destroyed all of its civilization and cities and reigning as a planetarch. The remaining ones formed a resistance known as the Future Freedom Fighters, to defeat Immarius and restore peace and prosperity to the world. The two sides have been fighting for 100 years and so far, they are in desperate conditions. Therefore, they called upon Sonic, who is believed to be the chosen one and who once defeated Immarius 100 years back in the past, to defeat him once again and save the world. Sonic asks him multiple questions. Baxter responds and tells him that all of his friends have passed away, day Then, Sonic asks them how Immarius was revived after Sonic defeated him. Baxter tells him that Immarius coexisted in the future and thus opened a time hole in the past and invaded with his fleet, once humanity was too weak because of the previous wars and after Sonic's death, Immarius was able to conquer the Earth. However, Immarius and is army is currently weakened, because of a fight with Dr. Eggman, since Eggman with his fleet managed to destroy a large part of his body and is currently recovering from his wounds, unable to fight. Sonic is shocked from hearing all this. He replies to Baxter that he can defeat him with the power of the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Baxter answers to him that the Chaos Emeralds do not exist in this world, as Immarius destroyed them all, long time ago. Sonic is devestated from what he hears, as there is little to no hope for the world. However, the Freedom Fighters and the entire world believes that Sonic will liberate them and defeat Immarius, except for Baxter, who hadn't agreed with the plan from the start.

Baxter decides to train Sonic so he be ready for battle. He tells him to meet him at the Training Room when he is ready. (Adventure Field: Outpost X). When Sonic arrives at the Training Room, he meets Spiker the Shark, who is in charge of the Training Room. The other Freedom Fighters arrive as well. Sparky places him in a chair and places him an amplifier on his head. Sonic enters a virtual world designed for training. Sky, Baxter and the others can be heard throughout the stage and tell Sonic his objective; to clear the level. (Training Room: Cyber Chamber) & (Training Room: Virtual Network). Then, the Freedom Fighters decide to make the game a bit more difficult, by releasing a robot. (Boss: Testing Robo). Sonic proves his skills to the Freedom Fighters and completes the test. As it gets late, the heroes head to their quarters to rest. (Adventure Field: Outpost X). Sonic finds Shadow and they both have a conversation together, alone. Shadow tells him his experiences and all of what he has seen over the last 100 years. All of Sonic's old friends died by fighting for their freedom. Sonic asks Shadow about Placido, who attacked Sonic in the woods. Shadow tells him that he was once the greatest Freedom Fighter in the team. However, Immarius poisoned his mind with a sword he gave him, turning him into his minion and against the Freedom Fighters. Sonic heads to his quarters to sleep for the night.

In his sleep, Sonic sees a dream, where he is in an abandoned temple, with a large lion statue speaking to him. It tells him to come to him. When Sonic wakes up, he tells Baxter and the Freedom Fighters about it. Solomon instantly understands that Sonic is talking about The Great Lion Statue, a statue located in the Eloch Ruins, where it talks to travelers and tells them about their future and destiny. Sonic tells them that he wants to go there, as he is sensing something. Sky tells him that the Great Lion Statue seized to speak ever since Immarius took over the world but Sonic insists. Baxter and the Freedom Fighters gather a small army and head to the Eloch Ruins, in search of the Great Lion Statue. (Adventure Field: Eloch) & (Eloch: Hallowed Ruins). Sonic and the Freedom Fighters arrive just outside the temple's ruins. However, the area is guarded by Immarius' minions. The Freedom Fighters fight them back, as Sonic continues alone to the statue. (Eloch: Lost Sanctuary) & (Boss: Gravitus Guard). Sonic arrives at the shrine where the giant, golden lion statue is. Sonic walks close to it. Suddenly, the lion opens its eyes and begins talking to Sonic. Sonic tells him that he saw him in his dream and that he was called upon this world to defeat Immarius. However, he is unable to because there are no Chaos Emeralds in this world, since Immarius destroyed them. The Great Lion Statue tells him that after Immarius destroyed t

he Chaos Emeralds, the emeralds' energy was automatically merged with the Master Emerald's. Sonic must use the Master Emerald's power in order to defeat Immarius. The Master Emerald is located in an area called the Isle of the Angels, formely known as the Angel Island, which has crashed into the ocean. There, he must seek for an echidna called Alcibiades, the current guardian of the Master Emerald. Then, the lion roars and creates a yellow stream of light in the sky and tells Sonic to follow it, which will lead him to the island. Sonic and the Freedom Fighters are the only ones who can see it. The lion then closes its eyes and statues. Sonic goes back to the Freedom Fighters where they are waiting for him. Sonic tells them about what the lion told him and they all agree to follow the light stream in the sky and head to the Isle of the Angels to find the Alcibiades. Turbulence, Sky and E-100000 F-3 return to Outpost X.

Chapter 3: Enter Alcibiades

(Adventure Field: Outpost X) & (Adventure Field: Isle of the Angels), (Isle of the Angels: Green Realm) . Sonic and the Freedom Fighters arrive at the Isle of the Angels. As they are walking, they find Alcibiades sitting on a ruined temple. He stands up and asks them who they are. Sonic tells them that the Great Lion Statue told him to come here, so that he grants him with the power of the Master Emerald and defeat Immarius. Alcibiades realizes that Sonic is the chosen one and tells them that it is not safe here. Alcibiades tells them to follow them in a safer place in order to talk. (Isle of the Angels: Angelic Springs).

Alcibiades, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters begin talking. Alcibiades takes out a piece of the Master Emerald from his pocket. He tells them that 100 years ago or so, the Echidna tribe lived in peace, until Immarius and his army invaded the Angel Island, murdering all of the Echdinas and destroying their entire civilization. When all hope was lost and when Immarius' army surrounded the remaining guardians around the Master Emerald shrine in order to steal it, the Guardians, one of whom was Knuckles the Echidna, shattered the Master Emerald into various pieces and were scattered across the corners of the Earth. Immarius managed to find all of them except for one. The one which Knuckles had been hiding away. And when he died, he gave it to his his son, whose son passed it to his grandson and followed, until it reached the hands of Alcibiades, so that Immarius was never able to find it. Due to a magical spell from the elders, Immarius was also unable to find the Angel Island, whose name changed to the Isle of the Angels, and fell down to the ocean. So Immarius is seeking for the last piece of the Master Emerald, so he can assemble all pieces and use the Master Emerald's power to ultimately conquer the entire world and reign supreme. Now, the only way to defeat Immarius is to retrieve the Master Emerald from Immarius' captivity and use its power to defeat him. However, the Master Emerald is located inside Immarius' gigantic dystopian fortress. As they are talking, the ground suddenly starts to shake. Immarius' airships invade the island and commence bombarding it. They unleash their troops to go find the Master Emerald. When Alcibiades wonders how they found the island, Sonic finds a shadow bug in his quills, which was put by Placido the Wolf, to detect Sonic, thus finding the Isle of the Angels. Baxter calls up for Turbulence's help in Outpost X to come with his fleet and pick them up. However, one of Immarius' mechs captures Alcibiades and takes him to their ship. Baxter orders Sonic to go track Alcibiades and rescue him, along with the Master Emerald piece, while the Freedom Fighters hold the army back and protect the island. (Gravitus Fleet: Sky Squadron) & (Gravitus Fleet: Atmosphere Terminal).

Sonic rescues Alcibiades and both rush to the deck, where the Freedom Fighters arrive to pick them up. However, Sonic encounters Immarius for the first time, who has healed from his wounds and is ready for battle. After a short discussion, Sonic and Immarius clash. (Boss: Immarius). Turbulence arrives in his ship and picks up Sonic, Alcibiades and the Freedom Fighters. However, Immarius has already stolen the Master Emerald piece from Alcibiades. They return to Outpost X.

Chapter 4: Sonic's Plan

The Freedom Fighters return to Outpost X, along with Sonic and Alcibiades. Alcibiades tells them that Immarius stole his Master Emerald piece and now he is able to complete the Master Emerald. Sonic informs them that he will go once more to the Great Lion Statue to tell him what they must do. The Freedom Fighters remain at the base. (Adventure Field: Eloch), (Eloch: Red Valley) & (Eloch: Tricky Turnpike) & (Boss: Gravitus Buster). Upon arriving to the Great Lion Statue, Sonic encounters it in a complete mess. It has been destroyed by the Gravitus. Sonic falls to the ground and pounds the ground with his fist. Suddenly, the Great Lion Statue reawakens, but only for a last time. It tells Sonic that he must get the Master Emerald at all cost and he cannot do it alone. Therefore, he must go and gather allies to help him infiltrate Immarius' base. He must go to 6 Freedom Fighters' bases, as well as the humans'. Then, the Great Lion Statue falls back to sleep and Sonic returns to Outpost X. (Adventure Field: Eloch) (Adventure Field: Outpost X).

As soon as Sonic arrives at Outpost X, he witnesses the battle against the Gravitus. He rushes to help, but is too late, as the Freedom Fighters have lost the battle. The only remaining Freedom Fighters are the 9 main characters. Outpost X is completely devestated and destroyed. Sonic tries to find his friends and help them. Baxter explains him that the Gravitus traced them here, knowing Sonic's arrival. Turbulence tries to get things together and informs the team that they must find a new base. Sky tells them that they could go to Space Colony ARK and use it as their main base. Sonic thinks that the ARK is still in space, but Solomon explains that it crashed to Earth years ago. The heroes decide to head to Space Colony ARK. (Space Colony ARK: Debris Canyon) & (Space Colony ARK: Fallen Colony). Upon arriving at the ARK, the heroes have a discussion about what they should do. Sonic tells them that the Great Lion Statue told him to go find allies from various locations of Earth, to unite and defeat Immarius together. The Freedom Fighers agree and decide to send Sonic, along with a guide, to every last Freedom Fighter base and bring them here. Shadow offers to be the first to guide Sonic to Sector Z, a group of Freedom Fighters located in a port town. They begin their journey.

Shadow smiles, turns to him and tells him that now that Sonic is here, he is definite that Immarius will finally be defeated the world will be saved. As for him, his duty is now over and he can now die happy because he knows that the future will be bright thanks to Sonic. He confesses to him that he has always loved him as a true friend in spite of their rivalries and tells him to go. Sonic still doesn't leave him and starts tearing. Shadow tells Sonic and the rest to go and uses Chaos Control to teleport them far away. Shadow uses his Chaos powers to trap all of the surrounding Gravitus near him. The time bomb goes to zero and explodes, killing all the surrounding Gravitus and Shadow himself in the process. Sonic falls to his legs in grief for the loss of one of his greatest friends and vows to defeat Immarius. They return to the Space Colony ARK. (Adventure Field: Space Colony ARK).

(Downunda: Faraway Oz). Sonic and Rosaline arrive at Downunda's Freedom Fighter base. Sonic tries to speak to him and he tells them that he belongs to a race named the Greyhorn Alliance, a race that lives on top of this mountain named Greyhorn Mountain. Long ago, Immarius enslaved them and took control of their homeland, forcing them to work endlessly in the frozen mines to uncover powerful gems and metal. However, they cannot take it any longer and want to make a revolution. Sonic and the Freedom Fighters agree to help them in their liberation.

(Mt. Greyhorn: Iced Gate). Sonic, Rosaline and the Downunda Freedom Fighters enter the gate. Inside, they witness the entire race working endlessly in the mines. Upon destroying the pillars, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters free the Greyhorn Alliance from slavery. They discuss about Immarius, who at the moment is reassmebling the pieces of the Master Emerald and is very close to finishing his project, a huge cannon powered up by the energy of the Master Emerald and the 7 Chaos Emeralds, able to pierce the planet. Baxter notices that in order to fight Immarius, they must unite with the humans and bring them to their side. (Adventure Field: Space Colony ARK) & (Adventure Field: City of Men).

While going to the City of Men, Sonic and Larson pass from the Gravitus Reservoir. Sonic asks Larson what they serve for and he replies by saying that it is a series of dams made by Immarius to gather large amounts of water and use them for energy. Sonic tells him to go and destroy them so that the people can have water to drink. Larson agrees, though it was not part of the plan. (Gravitus Reservoir: Bionic Barrage). While the two are fighting the Gravitus guards to head to the reservoirs, Sullivan appears from behind and helps them by shooting with his gun. He tells them that he has been following him as ordered by Baxter. The three head to destroy the reservoir. (Gravitus Reservoir: Wild Waterway).

Sonic tells him that he once knew a person who also lost their favorite friend but never stopped fighting for what his friend believed in (referring to Shadow who lost Maria). Baxter and Sonic goodnight each other and head to their chambers.

Later that night, in a dream-like sequence, Sonic wakes up and wanders outside the city, bouncing his ball on the floor, which was given to him as a gift by Amy. As he is walking, he finds Immarius. Sonic and Immarius face each other. Immarius quickly defeats Sonic, but sudenly, the Freedom Fighters appear with lights and weapons. Immarius quickly flees and the heroes help Sonic. However, the Master Emerald is located inside Immarius' deadly war machine castle. As they are talking, the ground suddenly starts to shake. Immarius' airships invade the island and commence bombarding it. They unleash their troops to go find the Master Emerald. When Alcibiades wonders how they found the island, Sonic finds a shadow bug in his quills, which where put by Placido the Wolf, to detect Sonic and where he goes, thus finding the Isle of the Angels. (Isle of the Angels) (Mission: Destroy 5 airships) & (Boss: Gravitus Sentinel) (Playable Characters: Baxter, Sullivan, Larson, Shadow, Spiker, Rosaline).

Chapter 6: Sonic and the Humans

The Outpost X Freedom Fighters, Downunda Freedom Fighters, Northern Tundra Freedom Fighters and the Soumerca Freedom Fighters, along with their army of soldiers, have gathered in a large room in the ARK to have a discussion about their future plans. Baxter orders Sonic to head to the United Federation of Men (UFM) and bring them to their side. Larson volunteers to take Sonic there and the two head to the humans. (Gravitus Reservoir) (Playable Characters: Larson). While the two are fighting the Gravitus guards to head to the reservoirs, Sullivan the Hedgehog appears from behind and helps them by shooting with his gun. He tells them that he has been following him as ordered by Baxter. The three head to destroy the reservoir. (Mission: Destroy 5 reservoir) (Playable Characters: Larson, Sullivan).

Sonic, Larson and Sullivan manage to destroy the wall holding the waters and thus, the water flows to all places, providing everyone with water. The three continue their way to the City of Men. Sonic, Larson and Sullivan find the United Federation of Men, a group of soldiers, who team up with the three heroes to defeat the Gravitus. (Mission: Defeat 65 enemies) (Playable Characters: Solomon, Larson). They all reach the skyscraper where the huge Gravitus Dragon is lying. The UFM prepares to attack it with rockets and tanks while Larson and Sullivan head alone to defeat it. (Boss: Gravitus Draco) (Playable Characters: Sullivan, Larson). The trio ultimately defeats the Gravitus Draco and liberates the city entirely from the Gravitus. The humans thank Sonic, Larson and Sullivan for their actions. The UFM tells them that whenever they need them, the humans will always join forces with them to defeat Immarius. The three heroes head back home.

Chapter 7: The Battle of Mercia

(Adventure Field: City of Men) & (Adventure Field: Space Colony ARK). Sonic, Larson and Sullivan return to the ARK, where the is once again a large meeting. The Freedom Fighters are discussing several matters in a large room. When Alcibiades' turn comes to speak, he mentions that Immarius is gathering up his army to launch an attack at the Kingdom of Mercia, the most largest city that stands against Immarius. The Freedom Fighters come to an agreement to gather the humans as well and head to the Kingdom of Mercia to defend it and defeat Immarius' army. (Adventure Field: Space Colony ARK) & (Adventure Field: Kingdom of Mercia). The Freedom Fighters and the humans arrive at the Kingdom of Mercia in their spacecrafts and ships. Baxter, Larson, Sullivan, Spiker, Sky, Rosaline and E-100000 F-3 meet the Freedom Fighters there, who inform them that they are all in a hurry and are preparing for battle. They seal the all the gates, activate the defense units, prepare all of the machines for battle and the heroes take battle positions. They are soon informed that the attack will commence the next day at dawn. Therefore, all of the Freedom Fighters head to their chambers to sleep for the night. (Adventure Field: Kingdom of Mercia). While at night, Sonic heads to Baxter, who is sitting outside, gazing at the stars, and they have a conversation. Baxter tells Sonic that he once had a small sister, who was assassinated by Immarius and that he has been fighting him for 10 years and he doesn't know if he will ever succeed at it. Sonic tells him that he once knew a person who also lost their favorite friend but never stopped fighting for them (refering to Shadow who lost Maria).

Immarius quickly defeats Sonic, but suddenly, the Freedom Fighters appear with lights and weapons. Immarius quickly flees and the heroes help Sonic. Baxter asks him what he was doing and Sonic replies that the ball Amy has given him has something strange about it.

The next morning, all of the residents wake up in a haste and prepare for battle stations. Slowly, Placido the Wolf and the Gravitus army invade the city. Using huge drills, the Gravitus pierce the walls and enter the city, thus the battle commences. The Humans and all of the Freedom Fighters against the Gravitus. Sonic and the Freedom Fighters prepare for battle. (Kingdom of Mercia) (Playable Characters: Baxter, Sullivan, Larson, Sky, Rosaline, Turbulance, Spiker, E-100000 F-3). The Freedom Fighters arrive at the bridge, where they encounter Sonic and Placido. Placido is in his original state, free from Immarius' brainwash. They help Sonic and Placido get up. The scene ends as all of the fighters and the humans cheer for Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, as the battle of Mercia is over, and have won the battle against the Gravitus.

Chapter 8: Final Story

The Final Story is unlocked once both stories are completed. It is common for both stories and is played once. Levels and Bosses in the Final Story are not ranked.

Through a series of events, the past of Immarius is unveiled. From the time where he was a normal citizen of Elvenstar to the point where he heads to the Earth to ressurect Dark Legion.

The story changes to where it was left, showing the massive damages of the planet after years of war. Immarius is standing in the balcony of his tower, watching his army losing the battle.

Meanwhile, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters are in the Kingdom of Mercia. Although they have won the battle, the entire city has been almost completely destroyed and there are many casualties. The heroes are unable to fight against Immarius' army with that few fighters. Sonic tells them to call upon his friends from the past to fight with them. Sky responds by telling him that they do not have a time machine and Immarius is the only one who has one. The remaining fighters gather around to come up with a plan. Sonic tells them that, in order to summon their friends from the past, they must use the seven chaos emeralds, which Immarius has. At that moment, the heroes come up with a plan. (Adventure Field: Mt. Greyhorn). The heroes call upon the Greyhorn Alliance and ask for their help to defeat Immarius. They pridefully agree to. Sonic explains the plan. He will wear the cloak of the Greyhorn Alliance, which enables Sonic to teleport, and will teleport him inside Immarius' castle. Once there, Sonic will head to the core of the castle and retreive the Chaos Emeralds, allowing him to become Super Sonic and defeat Immarius, although he doesn't know how. As Sonic is explaining, he is bouncing his ball up and down when suddenly the ball cracks open. Inside, there is a Chaos Emerald, one from the past, which Amy had put inside as a gift for Sonic. Alcibiades then steps in and tells them that in order to extract the Chaos Emeralds from the Master Emerald, one must use an object that has equal or more power than the emeralds and pierce it inside the Master Emerald, ultimately freeing the Chaos Emeralds from the Master Emerald.

The heroes prepare Sonic. He wears the Greyhorn cloak and teleports inside Immarius' castle, which inside, is like a vast metropolis. Sonic then quickly runs to the core of the castle where the Master Emerald is located. (Gravitus Utopia) (Playable Characters: Sonic). Sonic finds the core of the castle where the Master Emerald is located. There, he finds Immarius, who is guarding the emerald. After a short talk, Sonic and Immarius quickly clash, but due to Sonic's super speed, he slips from Immarius' hands and pierces the Chaos Emerald of his into the Master Emerald. All of a sudden, a huge shine blinds the screen and Sonic winds up back in the Kingdom of Mercia, along with the seven Chaos Emeralds that were freed. It was the power of Chaos Control. At that moment, Immarius loses his temper, becomes filled with anguish and orders the Gravitus Utopia to rise and march to the Kingdom of Mercia. The castle slowly grows enormous legs and lifts itself up. It then commences marching. Immarius prepares his army for war.

Back at the kingdom, the heroes and the humans use the Chaos Emeralds to create a portal and travel back in time. Each team of 2 Freedom Fighters heads to a different location in the past, to bring into the future all of the heroes who fought alongside Sonic. They summon Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Cream and Chaos, Big and Froggy, Espio, Charmy, Mighty, Vector, Jet, Wave and Storm, the Omni-Viewer, Fang, Shade, E-102 Gamma, Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic. Sky, Turbulence, Tails and Wave recreate the weapons and the airships while the others prepare for battle. They gather all their weapons and head to the Gravitus Utopia to defeat Immarius. Chapter 9: The Final Battle

As the Gravitus Utopia is approaching with its fleet and army, the humans and the Freedom Fighters are marching towards it. After a short while, the two opposing sides collide and the epic battle commences. Immarius attacks with his army on foot, as well as his entire walking city and fleet, while the heroes attack with all of their soldiers and aeroplanes, piloted by Turbulence, Sky, Tails and Wave. Dr. Eggman's fleet also battles against the Gravitus. (Battlefield) (Playable Characters: Freedom Fighters). As the two opposing sides are battling, Immarius unleashes the Master Cannon Supreme, a cannon attached below the castle which shoots energy from the Master Emerald. It is so powerful that it evaporates nearly every fighter. He then creates a force field around the Gravitus Utopia so that it remains unharmed from attacks. The Freedom Fighters are losing the battle. Sonic gets beaten up by a bunch of Gravitus and gets buried under a pile of scrap. The heroes lose all of their hope. Then, slowly, Super Sonic epically ascends from the ground. The Gravitus Utopia then fires an immense rain of missiles and rockets towards Super Sonic. He stops them with his powers and throws them back to the Gravitus Utopia. However, the castle is not affected by the attack. While in the batlefield, Baxter tells Super Sonic that he must somehow surpass the shield and enter the castle. Super Sonic comes up with an idea. He quickly flies to the Space Colony ARK and, by using his super powers, he reassembles the entire Space Colony, recreating the Eclipse Cannon and lifts it up with his hands. He flies to the Gravitus Utopia and with the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, he fires at the Gravitus Utopia with the Eclipse Cannon. He nearly destroys the entire shield. Then, Super Sonic throws the Space Colony ARK to the Gravitus Utopia, dealing massive damage and, not only destroying the entire shield, but also destroying a large part of the utopia. Without the shield, the Freedom Fighters can now infiltrate the castle. Baxter, Sullivan, Spiker, E-100000 F-3, Rosaline and Larson climb through the legs and arrive at the base. Tails and Knuckles also appear alongside Sonic. The three greet each other and the heroes head to the tower to confront Immarius. Super Sonic transforms back into Sonic to guide his friends on foot. (Viral Velocity) (Playable Characters: Sonic/Super Sonic) & (Finale) (Playable Characters: Baxter, Larson, Sullivan, Spiker, E-100000 F-3, Rosaline). You can click here to see an image from DeviantART that inspired the concept of Immarius' walking fortress.

As the heroes are fighting their way through the tower, Dr. Eggman jumps into the battle inside his Egg Drone (the same from the prequel) and attacks the Gravitus himself, ending up teaming up the heroes. The heroes reach the exterior part of the tower, where they are attacked by numerous Gravitus soldiers. Solomon tells Sonic that he and his team will take care of them as long as Baxter, Sonic and Dr. Eggman head inside to seek Immarius. Sullivan, Larson, Spiker, Rosaline, E-100000 F-3, Tails and Knuckles remain to battle the Gravitus and the three head inside the tower. Sonic has the Chaos Emeralds, Eggman has his drone and Baxter does not wield any sort of weaponry aside from the Freedom Fighters' flag, which he uses for combat. Inside, they encounter Immarius. Sonic tells Immarius that his actions are over. Immarius laughs and reveals his true intentions to Sonic.

After Dark Legion's death, Immarius' armor began to lose its power. Immarius, in order to survive, searched for a way to gain power for his armor. After a lot of search and studies, he found that he could find a way to enter the Nexus, the world that connect worlds. There, he could once again become immortal and reign supreme. But to fulfil this, he needed the Chaos Emeralds and for that, he needed the Master Emerald, because the Echidna Tribe had casted a spell to merge the power of the Chaos Emeralds inside the Master Emerald, to thwart Immarius' true plans. Immarius then began searching for the Master Emerald. He found all of its pieces but one. And now that he has them all, he can enter the Nexus and become immortal. After hearing all this, Dr. Eggman tells Immarius that the only person who would ever conquer the world would be none other than himself and charges at Immarius. However, he fails, as Immarius destroys his drone with a single swipe of his sword. Eggman then cowardly crawls away and hides beneath a bench. Immarius then enters the Nexus. Baxter tells Sonic that the only one who can stop him is Sonic himself. Sonic transforms back into Super Sonic and enters the Nexus to stop Immarius. (Final Boss: Gravitus God) (Playable Character: Super Sonic).

Once Super Sonic defeats Immarius, they both exit the Nexus. They are now outside the chamber on a bridge, on top of the tower. To defeat him once and for all, Super Sonic shoots a yellow energy beam from his hands, and Immarius shoots a blue energy beam from his flame core. They both collide. Super Sonic slowly begins to lose power as he has no more rings, but still keeps the energy beam going. Immarius is also very weak and his armor slowly begins to fade away and lose some of its parts. As the confrontation goes on, Baxter, who has fallen down, decides to get up and help Sonic. He grabs his flag and heroically cuts off Immarius' arm. In pain, Immarius falls to his knees. Then, Super Sonic gathers all of his power and shoots a yellow beam of energy to Immarius, ultimately wiping him out his last words being "unbelievable". Super Sonic then grabs his flame core and crushes it with his fist, then banishes it inside the Nexus and the portal closes.

Chapter 10: Epilogue

The scene then changes to the battlefield, where the entire Gravitus army immediately turns into blue flame and vaporizes. The heroes now realize that Sonic has done it. Inside the castle. Baxter rushes to Sonic to see if he's alright. Dr. Eggman then appears, crawling out from his hiding spot and stabs an Eggman flag saying "I claim this land in the name of Eggman". Suddenly, the Nexus self destructs and the castle begins to crumble. Eggman gets petrified and immediately flees to his fleet. Baxter and Super Sonic are the only ones inside the castle. The Nexus makes a violent explosion, causing the entire Gravitus Utopia to crumble. To save Baxter's life, Super Sonic gets in front of him and uses all of his super powers that's left to create a yellow force field and protect Baxter. A shine blinds the screen.

Baxter wakes up in the battlefield, with all of his friends and allies around him. The sky is clear blue and the entire castle has fallen into pieces. Baxter gets up and watches at the sky turning blue after all these years, thanking Sonic for his deeds.

90 years later, Baxter is on his deathbead, surrounded by Mobians. He narrates to them how he fought alongside Sonic to defeat Immarius and that he sacrificed himself to rescue Baxter's life. Ever since, no one has ever seen him and is presumed dead. Baxter thanks Sonic for all his actions that he saved the future. The scene then changes back to the ruins of the Gravitus Utopia, where a silhouette of Sonic is seen blurry in the ashes, with epic music playing. The scene ends and the credits begin.

THE END

A post credit scene is shown. Somewhere in the distant future, possibly 200 years later, a giant, rock statue of Sonic is seen, holding the Freedom Fighters' flag and saluting. The tablet reads "In memory of Sonic the Hedgehog, who fought alongside the Freedom Fighters". Silver and Blaze appear and leave some flowers in the statue, in memory of Sonic the Hedgehog, the one who is the future.
